2009-01-01 Two Volvo Construction Equipment Dealers in California Join Forces

Mathews Machinery, a dealer for Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) in California, has merged its business operations with those of Volvo’s company-owned dealership, Volvo Construction Equipment & Services (VCES).  As of January 1, 2009, Mathews will operate under the VCES name.  The merger allows Volvo Construction Equipment & Services to better serve California by increasing the strength of their distribution and leveraging the unique customer experience that both VCES & Mathews’ customers have always received.  There will now be eight strategically placed VCES branches across the state of California; Los Angeles, San Diego, the San Francisco bay area, Fresno, Livermore, Bakersfield, Corona and Sacramento.

Tom Younger, former president of Mathews and new president of VCES in California, is pleased with the decision.  “Over the years, Mathews has established positive relationships with our customers, focusing on providing excellent customer service to every customer.  VCES has been a successful dealer in this business for 50 years.   By becoming part of the VCES family, we will now be able to better serve customers with expanded locations and more service trucks in the field.  The partnering is a great fit and will allow us to further concentrate on what we do best, taking care of the customer.”

Mathews Machinery Inc. has provided equipment and services to aggregate, demolition, recycling, agriculture, road construction and civil engineering customers and will continue to serve these markets under the VCES name.  Additionally, Mathews brings several brand names to Volvo Construction Equipment & Services making VCES the exclusive California dealer for Stanley LaBounty attachments, Dressta crawler dozers, and Champion motor graders.

Volvo Construction Equipment & Services has been a construction equipment dealer for nearly 50 years, offering equipment, parts, service, and rental opportunities.  When VCES was acquired by Volvo CE in 2007, they became a Volvo compact & road machinery dealer and changed their name to reflect their newly expanded product line.  Now that Mathews has joined VCES, the VCES product offering in California includes the full Volvo product line: wheel loaders, articulated haulers, motor graders, Blaw-Knox pavers, compactors, compact equipment and excavators.  VCES is still an authorized Doosan dealer for the Ingersoll-Rand branded portable power products, such as generators, air compressors, and light towers.  VCES now serves the country with 20 branch locations nationally.
