4/24/2008Volvo Buses to close plant in Tampere, FinlandAfter finalizing the negotiations with employee representatives, Volvo Buses has decided to close the bus body plant in Tampere, Finland. The company will also reorganize operations at the body plant in Turku to increase the competitiveness. In total, 237 employees will be given notice.
4/16/2008Volvo Buses and Wrightbus land billion order in UKVolvo Buses has received its largest single order so far in Europe. Jointly with the bodybuilder Wrightbus, the company will deliver buses in the coming years in the UK valued at SEK 1.5 billion. Volvo’s share of the order value is about 35-40%.
3/20/2008Bangalore orders 240 city buses from VolvoVolvo Buses has received an order for an additional 240 city buses to Bangalore, India. The 70 Volvo buses already in traffic in the city have enticed many inhabitants to park their cars and take the bus instead.
3/18/2008Volvo launches BRT bus in ChinaVolvo Buses is now launching its BRT Volvo 7800 bus in China. Currently, there is a strong environmental focus in China prior to the Olympic Games and later the World Expo in Shanghai. In addition, Volvo’s Chinese company Sunwin has received an order for 395 city buses to the Olympic city of Qingdao.
