The basic material for Volvo 8700 and 9700 buses is stainless steel. Volvo Bus Finland Oy (form. Carrus) started to use stainless steel in body building in 1991. The stainless steel concept co-operation with Volvo Bus Corporation started in 1995. This body construction is chosen to give the customer the advantages of a corrosion-resistant framework. Bus which is made of stainless steel retains an attractive appearance for the whole of its life, reduces maintenance and service costs and ensures a high second-hand value.
