Milestones Volvo Bus Finland

1935
Autokori Oy - the present Volvo Bus Finland Turku factory was established.

1942
Ajokki Oy - the present Volvo Bus Finland Tampere Factory was established.

1952
Ajokki's manufacturing facilities are seriously damaged by a fire.  

1955
Ajokki introduced the first wooden bus body with steel reinforcement. 

1957
Ajokki starts manufacturing of steel bodies.

1960
Autokori Oy starts manufacturing of steel bodies.

1966
Autokori Oy starts export deliveries. First buses outside Finland are delivered to Sweden. 

1973
Autokori Oy changes name to Delta Plan Oy and moves to new facilities.

1982
Ajokki Oy buys Delta Plan Oy and it's special vehicle factory Erikoiskori Oy in Iisalmi, Finland.  Ajokki Group is established.

1983
The Delta Superstar coach is awarded at the Nice Salon in France. 

1984
Ajokki Group acquires the special vehicle factory Kiitokori Oy in Kausala, Finland.

1985
Delta Plan celebrates the 50th anniversary and the Delta Star 50 model is introduced. 

1986
Mr. Ilmari Mustonen, the owner of body factory Wiima in Helsinki, acquires Ajokki Group. The company group now consists of the body building factories Ajokki Oy, Delta Plan Oy and Wiima Oy, and the special vehicle factories Erikoiskori Oy and Kiitokori Oy.

1989
Ajokki Oy, Delta Plan Oy and Wiima Oy change name to Carrus Oy. Factories are named Carrus Oy Ajokki, Carrus Oy Delta and Carrus Oy Wiima.

1991
Carrus starts body manufacturing of stainless steel. Carrus Stainless concept is born. 

1996
A joint venture with Volvo Bus Corporation for  the manufacture of city and intercity buses is inaugurated in Wroclaw, Poland.

1998
Volvo Bus Corporation acquires Carrus Oy, which had became  the leading bus bodybuilding company in the Nordic region.  

2001
Carrus Oy Wiima in Helsinki  is closed. 

2004
Carrus Oy changes name to Volvo Bus Finland Oy and the factories get names Volvo Bus Finland  Oy Tampere factory and Volvo Bus Finland Oy Turku factory.

2007
Volvo 9700 coach was named Coach of the Year 2008. The bus was manufactured at Volvo Bus Finland Turku Factory.
