Volvo Construction Equipment will use Elmia Wood to reinforce its position as the total solution provider to forestry customers worldwide. Visitors will see a range of equipment, for road building, harvesting, transportation, material handling and biomass harvesting.
Held from 3rd to 6th June in Jönköping, Sweden, the Elmia Wood exhibition will showcase Volvo’s commitment to serving forestry customers with the most economical, efficient, reliable and innovative solutions available. Demonstrating this commitment, and representing Volvo’s investment in environmentally sound forest machinery, a hybrid forwarder will be on display. And it’s not just the machines that are environmentally aware; the Eco Operator training programme and HybriPower concept will also be promoted at the show.
Products & applications
Site preparation & stump harvesting. The short swing excavator with class-leading stability, the ECR145CL, will work on site preparation while the EC210C all-round excavator, fitted with a stump harvesting attachment, will show the versatility of the Volvo excavators in both construction and forestry applications.
Harvesting & transportation. The FC2121C tracked forestry carrier on display is the smallest of the four FC models. The purpose-built, tracked forestry carriers are designed as all-purpose machines, from forest road building, harvesting, shovel logging, processing, log loading and stump harvesting to reforestation. Designed for tough work, they feature purpose-built, ‘high-walker’ undercarriages to manage difficult terrain. All Volvo forestry machines feature a dedicated Volvo Forestry Care Cab, approved to OSHA, WCB, SAE and ISO safety standards.
Volvo – through its Technology Transfer division – is the major investor in the Swedish company El-forest, developers of the world’s first hybrid forwarder. The first concept machine was delivered to Sveaskog, a Swedish forestry company, in the beginning of April. Exhibited at Elmia Wood will be the F15, an updated version of this machine.
The Volvo truck range for timber transportation from the roadside to the mill is represented by the FH16 540 truck with self loader. Featuring good drivability, comfort, safety and durability the FH16 is the premium choice for long and demanding haulage operations.
Mill-yard operation. Purpose-built for handling logs, the L180F High Lift wheel loader is capable of reaching a lift height of 5.8 m under closed grapple. This offers the ability to use a stockyard’s surface area up to 70 % more efficiently than in traditional log handling.
The L120F loader is a multi-purpose machine that has the power and maneuverability needed to perform heavy and demanding work in log and material handling. The market’s widest range of attachments gives the machine flexibility to handle logs, chips and bark to load sawn timber, paper and pulp onto trucks for onward transportation. Both wheel loaders are equipped with the ergonomically designed Volvo Care Cab. The Automatic heat control, the market’s best filter system and the effective cab damping are features that provide the operator with a safe and comfortable workplace. This all translates into higher productivity.
Volvo Construction Equipment’s participation at Elmia Wood is carried out in cooperation with Swecon Anläggningsmaskiner AB, its dealer in Sweden, the Baltics and parts of Germany. Along with the machines, customer support offerings such as the CareTrack fleet management system, genuine Volvo parts and services, Volvo Financial Services as well as Volvo Approved Used Equipment will be promoted.
