The Volvo PL4608 pipelayer is purpose designed and built to meet the rugged application requirements of the modern pipeline industry. The design provides state-of-the-art safety and lifting technology in a 360-degree working platform. Its versatility to be converted to a conventional excavator increases the potential utilisation of the PL4608 and is just one of its many features. Volvo's new Pipelayer series – Winner of the prestigious BP Innovation Award in 2008.

  • Powerful 245 kW (329 hp) Volvo Tier 3/Stage IIIA compliant engine with V-ACT (Volvo Advanced Combustion Technology) offering high performance, durability and industry-leading fuel efficiency

  • Longer boom featuring more hook hight and better reach along with the 360 degree swing and lift capability enable maximum flexibility and infinite load positioning – a solution unattainable with traditional side boom pipelayers.

  • Hydraulically elevated Volvo Care Cab with operator protective structure lifts the operator by 30'' (760 mm) providing a wider field of vision to the entire job site for more productivity and safety, whilst facilitating machine transportation in its lowered position
  • Innovative load-management system featuring a boom-mounted light bar, in-cab monitor and warning systems to optimize operator confidence, effectiveness and safety
  • Hydraulically variable gauge system allows extension of the track gauge for more working stability. Together with the hydraulically removable counterweight, the PL4608 is the most easily transported machine in its class
