Since 1978 the Volvo Truck and Bus dealer for the Leicestershire territory, has been based in a Village called Stoney Stanton, South West Leicestershire. The small 2 bay workshop originally housed 6 employees and was initially part of the independent dealer The Billows Group, which also included the dealerships at Kettering, Bedford and Peterborough, before becoming part of the wholly owned dealer Volvo Truck and Bus South in 1998.
The site was originally built around 1924 and was used by a local haulage company as a workshop.
The business levels have now out-grown the capacity the site was originally designed handle and from a Health and Safety and environmental point of view, presented many challenges in terms of operating at the optimum level and providing the quality of service our customers rightfully expect.
From a long term planning point of view, the site was also considered to be in the wrong location for the future services to the whole customer base within its Leicestershire territory.
During 2006 a decision was made by the Regional Management team, that the time had come to invest and relocate the Stoney Stanton Dealerpoint. The Bardon area of Leicestershire was chosen for its strategic location in terms of drive time for the whole of Leicestershire and its proximity to the M1 corridor.

The land at Interlink Park was identified and a deal was quickly secured from Wilson Bowdon Developments, with it only being 2.1 miles from the M1 Motorway and on a progressive high profile industrial business park
In April 2008 the site was cleared and the work to move Volvo Truck and Bus Centre to Bardon had begun.
The new 9500m2 site will have a 922 m2 workshop and two floors of parts and office space totalling 860m2 when completed.
Space to park 32 full tractor and trailer rigs will be provided complete with a state of the art security camera and gate entry system, to ensure our customers property is cared for in the best possible way whilst in our possession.
Full vehicle steam clean and wash pit facilities will be part of the new site, this will be of great benefit to our existing customers as we do not currently provide this service at Stoney Stanton due to space and environmental restrictions.
The workshop has 3 double drive-through bays, 8 single work bays in total including:
- Dedicated tachograph bay
- Pre Mot Lane with Shaker Plates
- Headlamp Beam Tester, Brake Rollers and smoke tester.
Investments have also been made in the latest technology equipment in order to provide maximum efficiency to be able to deliver the best possible service to our customers and be able to achieve right first time, every time, a vehicle comes for a service visit.
This includes:
