2007 Sees a double birthday celebration for Volvo Trucks in the UK with it being 40 years since the first Volvo appeared on our roads in the UK back in 1967, and 80 years since AB Volvo was formed back in 1927. Since those early days, Volvo have continually striven to be market leaders by producing vehicles that match the company's core values of Quality, Safety and Care for the environment. Nowadays, Volvo trucks are sold and serviced in more than 130 countries over the world, through over 1,000 dealerships and 1,800 workshops. More than 95% of the trucks we build are in heavy weight class over 16 tons, which makes Volvo Truck Corporation the second largest heavy-duty truck brand in the world.
In addition to designing and producing trucks that lead the way in style, technology, performance and durability we also believe that the inner Volvo that lies beneath this uncompromising exterior is equally important. To safeguard your inner Volvo and ensure you can get the most from your investment there is no safer place than in the hands of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Scotland. With a Scottish dealer network second to none, VTBC Scotland's pro-active approach, ability to listen and innovative thinking ensures that you could not choose a safer maintenance provider to entrust your 'O' licence and make your life easier.
Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Scotland will be showcasing the evolution of the truck range at Truckfest this year with our stand having over 20 vehicles on display. To help us celebrate our 40th anniversary we will also have one of the first Volvo Trucks delivered in the UK, a 7ltr, 170bhp, F86 and the very first FH12 in the UK both kindly loaned from Alex Anderson of Bo'ness. Contrasting the old with the new is 13litre Euro 5 engine. Ever increasing legislative demands for cleaner vehicles will see Euro 5 become the mandatory emission standard from 1st October 2009. However, Volvo vehicles with engine technology designed to meet this standard are already in service, and as from October 2007, customers using these vehicles will benefit from a Reduced Pollution Certificate (RPC) which will provide a £500 rebate on vehicle tax if the vehicle is also fitted with NOx Control and Torque Limitation.
In line with our drive to provide customers with total transport solutions, 2007 also sees the creation of an agreement between Volvo Truck Corporation and Nissan Motor that allow VTBC Scotland to handle the sales, repair and maintenance of the Nissan Cabstar and Interstar Light commecial vehicles both of which will be on stand.
