Operators with digital tachographs are reminded to ensure that their drivers are aware of the end of British Summer Time later this month.
During British Summer Time, which runs from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October, the 'current' time differs by one hour from the time used by digital tachographs, which consistently record hours in Universal Time Co-ordinated (UTC) time.
From the end of this month, however, the return to Greenwich Mean Time means that 'current' time and UTC time will be one and the same.
The switch is particularly important when drivers are inputting actvity details manually into digital tachographs - for example when inputting details of 'other work' before commencing any driving.
