Cheshire based, AHC Westlink, (formerly AHC Warehousing), have recently taken delivery of their first Volvo tractor unit, a Euro 5 FH-480 – part of a 20-truck deal which will completely replace their existing fleet with Volvo vehicles.
The order, which has been placed with the Liverpool branch of Volvo dealership, Thomas Hardie Commercials, comes after a recent company buy-out by the Westlink Group, enabling AHC Westlink to invest heavily within all aspects of their business.
According to AHC Westlinks Transport Manager Phillip Jukes, “The decision to invest in all new vehicles was made at the beginning of the year.” He added, “As part of the procurement process we were set the task of finding suitable trucks with a delivery date of Autumn 2007. A number of suppliers were approached, however Volvo and Thomas Hardie Commercials guaranteed to meet the tight deadline and have since delivered on time.”
AHC Westlink’s new 480hp vehicle is plated to 44 tonnes GCW and has been specified with a Globetrotter XL cab in ‘Prestige’ trim. Volvo’s much-praised I-Shift automated transmission has also been added for added driver control and ease.
The remaining 19 vehicles have all been ordered with the same specification.
The vehicle is on 5-year repair and maintenance contract with Thomas Hardie Commercials at Liverpool. Phillip explained, “Having Volvo back-up support with Thomas Hardie Commercials contract packages ensures ‘peace of mind’ and has been an important consideration in our purchase.”
The new vehicle, which displays re-branded graphics, can be easily recognised on the UK’s roads, as they provide general haulage nationwide in their innovative black and silver livery.
