Log on with Volvo
Volvo Wheel Loaders’ extensive experience and knowledge in the timber handling industry has resulted in a superior design of log grapples. Handle logs of varying lengths, transport logs over uneven ground, sort different wood types and efficiently maintain the lumberyard. Volvo log grapples are designed side-by-side with Volvo Wheel Loaders to maximize machine features especially important in timber handling, such as the Torque Parallel Linkage’s high breakout torque at maximum lift height. Note: All log grapples require 3rd hydraulic function.
- General Purpose Log Grapple is an all-round grapple used for handling and sorting tree length stems or for gripping single stems. It has long and straight tines for easier loading from stacks or sorting bunkers. Grapple area 0,7 – 1,8 m2 (7,5 – 19,4 ft2) (Available for Models L50E, L60E, L70E, L90E, L110E, L120E, L150E, L180E, L220E)
- Unloading Log Grapple has short, rounded tines, making it easier to fill the grapple when unloading trucks. Long, straight tines could damage both the timber and truck if used for this purpose. Grapple area 1,8 – 4,0 m2 (19,4 – 43,1 ft2) (Available for Models L90E, L110E, L120E, L150E, L180E, L220E)
- Sorting Log Grapple has relatively long and straight tines so the grapple can be easily filled when loading from stacks or sorting bunkers. The longer tines also permit easier sorting of single stems. Grapple area 1,0 – 4,0 m2 (10,8 – 43,1 ft2) (Available for Models L50E, L60E, L70E, L90E, L110E, L120E, L150E, L180E, L220E)
- Tropical Timber Log Grapple is intended for handling large diameter and high density tropical timber. The grapple is extra wide with two separate clamping arms to hold large, heavy stems securely. Grapple area 1,1 – 1,6 m2 (11,8 – 16,2 ft2) (Available for Models L110E, L120E, L150E, L180E)
- Tree Length Log Grapple is a wide grapple specifically developed for handling long, tree length stems. Grapple area 1,7 – 2,0 m2 (18,3 – 21,5 ft2) (Available for Models L150E, L180E, L220E)
- Swivel Wood Clamp Log Grapple is specially designed for unloading from the top of a truck or stack, transporting, and loading a stack or feeding table. The grapple rotates 360° and can be positioned in one of two locations, depending on the density and length of the timber being handled. Note: This grapple requires 3rd and 4th hydraulic functions. Grapple area 0,5 – 2,0 m2 (5,4 – 21,5 ft2) (Available for Models L90E, L110E, L120E)
- Heel/Kickout can be added to certain log grapples, particularly those used for sorting work, to hold a single log in place. It can also be used to create stacks up to 0,5 m (1,8 ft) higher, as the heel/kickout can push the logs out without having to tilt the grapple forward. Note: Heel/Kickout requires 4th hydraulic function. (Available for certain Unloading or Sorting Log Grapples)
- L180E High-Lift Grapple Arms are available in three different versions: unloading, loading/unloading against a wall, and loading/unloading pulp wood against a wall. Each grapple is specifically designed for the application or the type of wood being handled. The grapple arms can be equipped with either clamping arms or clinch chains. Grapple area 2,3 – 4,8 m2 (24,8 – 51,7 ft2) (Available for Model L180E HL)
