7/2/2009Volvo Aero Norway signs agreement with Snecma, Safran group concerning continued cooperation on CFM56In conjunction with the international Paris Air Show, Volvo Aero and the French engine manufacturer Snecma signed an agreement stating that Volvo Aero Norway will supply components for the new, enhanced engine for the Boeing 737 aircraft, the CFM56-7BE. As Snecma is Volvo Aero Norway’s single largest customer, this agreement is of great importance to Volvo Aero Norway.

6/26/2009Snecma and Volvo Aero sign key agreement in principle for deliveries up to 2014At the Paris Air Show, Snecma and Volvo Aero agreed on the basic principles of a five-year partnership between the two companies in the field of space propulsion. The agreement between Snecma and Volvo Aero involves the series production of 37 nozzles and the same number of turbines, which will be manufactured by Volvo Aero in Trollhättan from the end of 2009 until mid-2014. For Volvo Aero, sales of several hundreds of millions of Swedish kronor will be secured through the agreement.

6/23/2009Volvo Group begins selling trucks that meet EPA2010 emissions standardsAB Volvo’s North American subsidiary, Volvo Trucks North America, has begun selling vehicles that meet the new US emissions standards, EPA2010, which come into effect in 2010. The trucks meet the standards using SCR, Selective Catalytic Reduction, which also increases fuel efficiency and reduces carbon emissions. Initial production is scheduled for autumn 2009.
6/23/2009Susan Solomon wins the Volvo Environment Prize for 2009 – delivering findings on ozone layer depletion and prominent on the UN climate panelOne of the world’s leading atmospheric scientists will arrive in Sweden this autumn to receive what has become over the last 20 years one of the scientific world’s most respected environmental prizes: the Volvo Environment Prize, awarded by an independent foundation. In expeditions to Antarctica Susan Solomon was able to map the mechanisms underlying the hole in the ozone layer. In recent years, she has led the most prestigious working group within the UN’s climate panel and recently warned that manmade global climate changes may be irreversible — that is, even if human carbon dioxide emissions are stopped, the changes they are provoking can last more than 1000 years.
6/22/2009Volvo Group launches new program for cooperation with universities and colleges At a ceremony held today, the Volvo Group’s Academic Partner Program was launched as a global program for research cooperation with selected universities and colleges. The Volvo Group aims to establish long-term partnerships with the best universities and colleges worldwide in the field of automotive research. Three colleges in western Sweden were the first to join the collaborative program.
6/22/2009Major agreement for Volvo Buses in ChinaVolvo Buses, with subsidiary Sunwin Bus, signed a framework agreement for 1,500 buses with bus operator Bashi Group in Shanghai, China. The agreement is valued at approximately SEK 1.3 billion and the buses will be delivered up to the opening of the World Expo in Shanghai in May next year.
