11/19/2009Volvo and Mack engines first to be certified for near-zero emissions of EPA 2010 Volvo and Mack are the first truck manufacturers to have their engines certified by the U S Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board as meeting upcoming 2010 diesel emissions standards, the most stringent in the world.
11/18/2009Truck deliveries in October 2009Total deliveries from the Volvo Group’s truck operations in October amounted to 13,050 vehicles. This was a decrease of 41% compared with the year-earlier period. At the same time, the majority of the truck operations have noted an increase of deliveries in October, compared with September this year. For the Volvo Group in total, the increase was 12% compared with September this year.
11/16/2009Volvo Group entered into an agreement with China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co, Ltd to sell its equity interest in Jinan Huawo Truck CorporationThe Volvo Group, Sinotruk (BVI) Limited and China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corporation (CNHTC) have signed an agreement whereby Sinotruk (BVI) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corporation, and CNHTC agrees to purchase all of Volvo Group’s equity interest in Jinan Huawo Truck Corporation (Joint Venture), in which Volvo Group currently holds a 50-percent equity interest. The agreement is subject to approval by the P.R.C. authorities.
11/3/2009World-leading atmospheric researcher Susan Solomon arrives in Sweden for her Volvo Environment PrizeDr Susan Solomon is one of the world’s leading atmospheric chemists and is in Sweden to receive the Volvo Environment Prize on 5 November in Stockholm. The prize, this year worth SEK 1.5m (approx. € 150 000), is celebrating its 20th anniversary. It has become one of the science world’s most respected environmental awards.
10/27/2009Government-owned Fouriertransform to invest 60 MSEK in the fuel cell company Powercell Sweden ABThe Swedish government’s venture capital company for the automotive industry, Fouriertransform, is now making its first investment. SEK 60 M will be invested in Powercell Sweden AB, which develops, produces and sells fuel cells, fuel reformers and auxillary power units.
10/23/2009Volvo Group – nine months ended September 30, 2009Although the third quarter remained, as expected, challenging in terms of profitability, there are some positive signs indicating that the decline in demand has bottomed out and that we are now beginning a gradual recovery. These signs are the most obvious in the Group’s second largest region in terms of sales, Asia, where the economic growth is also reflected in demand for the Group’s products.

This is being achieved by replacing propane with DME and by cutting energy consumption through the use of an ice-cold underground river to cool the production machinery. At the same time, considerable environmental improvements in the paintshop have helped create the world’s cleanest and most energy-efficient paintshop.

10/7/2009Volvo to launch bus-adapted alcolock systemThe new alcolock system from Volvo Buses is specifically adapted for the bus industry’s requirement for rapid driver changes on route. The vehicle can be started without a breath test, but the brakes will remain locked if the driver is not sober.
