1. How did you come to join the Volvo Group?
After spending a couple of years commuting between Gothenburg and Stockholm a former colleague, now working for Volvo IT, recommended me to apply for a new exiting position as Service Area Manager. After 18 years in the rather turbulent telecom industry, it was inspiring to meet the determined and professional atmosphere within the Volvo family.

2. Tell us about you current role and its main responsibilities.
As service area manager for network and communication I’m responsible for packaging, pricing and marketing IP based communication services for Volvo Group and external customers. Besides this I’m also responsible for the IT deliveries with in the Volvo Ocean Race, a demanding and exciting assignment, which challenges the delivery team capability to work together in creating effective IT solutions for race management and participants.

3. Have you had other roles and assignments in the Group? What would you like to do in the future in the Group?
Ever since joining the Volvo Group 4 years ago, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many different parts of the organization. Since IT is becoming an integrated part of both products and the way we do business, Volvo IT gets increasingly involved in our main business processes. Looking forward; it would be interesting to get involved in strategic planning and change activities again. Much of the things we take for granted today will change over the coming next years, and I believe that by working actively with scenarios and long to mid-term planning we can be well equipped for the business demands of tomorrow.

4. How would you describe the culture of Volvo Group? ( i.e. what do you think is distinctive about how we do things in Volvo Group ?)
The Volvo culture is a great example of how a company can combine the straightforwardness of professionalism with the respect for the individual, a combination that is vital when building global organizations. Since collaboration is increasingly virtual, the ability to communicate over company and cultural borders becomes key. Often I find myself in a number of virtual meetings throughout a working day, and in the name of efficiency good chairmanship and preparations is required and appreciated by all participants. However; in the end it’s all about the people and their passion to make a difference every day.

5. Why do you think someone should consider working for a Volvo Group company?
Volvo Group is a truly global organization with almost infinite possibilities for personal development. The opportunity to be a part of one of the strongest players in the automotive business, and hopefully being able to contribute to the solutions of tomorrow is really inspiring…
