International Assignments

Because we have operations around the world there will always be opportunities for international assignments -- for example in connection with the launch of a new enterprise or the transfer of new technologies, processes or skills between our different entities.  There are currently almost 600 Volvo Group employees working on international assignments worldwide.

 

The Group has a comprehensive program to manage international assignments to make sure that they benefit our colleagues, their families and the Volvo Group. We want these international assignments to give employees the opportunity to gain a broader perspective on company operations and to build the kind of cross-cultural capabilities that are needed for success in a global business.

In the global business environment of today, more and more people are working in cross cultural and cross functional teams – frequently in close contact with people from many countries. Whether in a virtual team or through global team mobilization, the challenges are often considerable.  We need to develop the ‘competencies’ to make global collaboration work and allow us to profit fully from the talents that our diversity provides.
