Today, Leif Johansson and Stefano Chmielewski joined forces in a debate around Urban Mobility during the 2008 European Transport Forum in Brussels.

Welcoming over 300 participants ranging from the European Commission, the European Parliament, policymakers from national and local level to industry representatives, the event also provided an opportunity to unveil the Optifuel Solutions Concept Generation 2010, an experimental vehicle for massifying transport with the best energy efficiency.

Altogether there were 6 Renault Trucks displayed outside Autoworld:

  • The Optifuel Solutions Generation 2010 Concept Truck aiming at saving fuel, and by that CO2 exhaust, thanks to its aerodynamics;
  • The Premium Distribution Hybrys-Tech Demonstrator geared to save up to 30% of fuel in a refuse collector version;
  • The Maxity Electric Concept vehicle, an all electric commercial vehicle;
  • The Premium Distribution CNG; a part of Renault Trucks’ green product offer already on the market today;
  • The FIDEUS Demonstrator; a low-emission and low-noise vehicle perfectly fit for freight transport in urban environments (ideal for freight delivery by night).
  • The CVIS/SAFESPOT Demonstrator; the intelligent vehicle communicating with other vehicles and infrastructure.

The audience received an in-depth presentation on the various Renault Truck solutions to be put in place for a master plan to simplify transport by Eric Poyeton, Renault Trucks’ Senior Vice President Strategic Planning.

Stefano Chmielewski, President & CEO of Renault Trucks said that “The European Commission can make small steps in order to make important changes. They can have a big impact on allowing the industry to save CO2 and reduce fuel consumption”.

The European Transport Forum 2008 spreads over three days and will also see the introduction of the Volvo Integrated Safety Truck and the cooperation of different industries working together on an environmental project reducing CO2 emissions up to 50%.
