The European Transport Forum is one of the major events on the Brussels conference calendar. This annual conference serves as a platform for open debate on the future for European transport.

Debating the future of EU transport

The theme for day 1, September 16, is: How "European" Should Our Policy Solutions Be?

How strong is the case for EU-level rules that would ensure urban mobility measures don't become barriers to trade and to the free movement of people? By taking an increased role, the EU could become a catalyst for raising the standard of urban planning and development right across Europe.

Below list of participants in the debate,  moderated by Giles Merritt, Director, Forum Europe:

  • Leif Johansson, President & CEO of Volvo Group
  • Stefano Chmielewski, President of Renault Trucks
  • Gérard Collomb, Senator & Mayor of Lyon, France*
  • Göran Johansson, Mayor of Gothenburg, Sweden*
  • Eric Poyeton, Sr. Vice President Strategic Planning, Renault Trucks
