ITS – or Intelligent Transport Systems - focuses on improving safety and mobility in transportation, enhancing productivity through the use of advanced IT and communications technologies.
The first ITS World Congress was held in 1994 in Paris. It is organised by ERTICO, ITS America and ITS Japan.
Every year the ITS World Congress attracts some 5,000 participants from around the world looking to share experiences and build networks.
It is an opportunity to learn more about what ITS can do to improve the efficiency of your operations and can show the general public how ITS can help them in their daily lives.
Attendees include international organisations and national governments; regional, local and municipal authorities; security and safety organisations; industry CEOs; equipment manufacturers and suppliers; service developers and service providers: software developers and systems integrators; automotive and industrial designers; public transport and freight operators; ITS project management, financiers, consultants and advisors, users and member organisations; and public interest groups and press.
Volvo’s vision is to be valued as the world’s leading provider of safe, secure and sustainable commercial transport solutions supported by ITS. The Volvo Group has attended the ITS World Congress since the beginning and was a main partner in 2009 in Stockholm. Volvo used the five-day event to strengthen its brands and long-term research collaboration, to boost sales of soft products and to increase the awareness of ITS internally.
The 17th ITS World Congress will be held in Busan, South Korea.
