Volvo Group executive committee has set ambitious goals with respect to energy. These include reducing energy consumption per manufactured unit by 50 percent over a five-year period.
We will also double the share of CO2 neutral energy in our operations. The investments at the Tuve plant are in line with our environmental goals and proof that Group executive committee takes them seriously. We also want to show others and ourselves that it is possible to create a CO2 neutral plant in practice. We already know that the idea to create an example that could inspire others is working.
Before the end of year 2008, our plants in Ghent in Belgium and Umeå and Tuve in Sweden will have reduced their carbon dioxide emissions to as close to zero as technically possible.
