A hybrid driveline cleverly exploits the benefits of different engine types and energy-storage systems.
The most suitable vehicles for hybrid drivelines are those that operate in continuous stop-go conditions such as buses, refuse trucks and distribution trucks. Construction machines can also be highly suitable for hybrid technology because the electric motor can be used to power the vehicle’s hydraulic systems.
“The diesel engine in our hybrid solution can also be operated using biofuels, and consequently, transport activities can be conducted without carbon dioxide emissions,” says Volvo Group CEO, Leif Johansson.
