The Volvo Group has a decentralised environmental organisation.
Environmental coordinators
The responsibility for the environmental performance and legal compliance of the plants follows the ordinary business responsibility. Most plants have an environmental coordinator.
Environmental product requirements
Requirements such as emission levels, fuel consumption and material selection, are handled in the product development organisations along with all other requirements.
Environmental managers and specialists
Each business area and business unit has a centrally placed environmental manager, or equivalent, who is coordinating the environmental strategies within the unit.
Environmental specialists within the fields of e.g. chemicals, life cycle assessments, and environmental protection technology are working as internal consultants at Volvo Technology.
Environmental affairs and environmental council
The coordination of Group environmental strategies and follow-up is centrally placed at Environmental affairs at the Volvo Group Headquarters.
An environmental council, chaired by a member of the Group Executive Committee, is the advising body for Group decisions. The council consists of the environmental managers and VHQ environmental affairs.
Environmental communication activities are organised in cooperation with Corporate Communications and Brand management.
