Biogas is a fuel in gaseous form which for the most part consists of hydrocarbonated methane. Biogas can be extracted from sewage treatment plants, refuse tips, and other places where there is biologically degradable material. Production is also possible through the gasification of biomass. Biogas requires an engine with spark plugs and therefore has lower energy efficiency.
