The Volvo Group is studying and assessing all of the renewable fuels that could conceivably be used for the Group’s products.

Methanol is produced through the gasification of biomass and ethanol through the fermentation of crops with a high content of sugar or starch. Research is currently underway on producing ethanol from cellulose. The assessment includes methanol/ethanol with an ignition improving additive.
