Chassis packaging

The Volvo FM can be built to suit the most varying transport tasks. The chassis is available in different heights, suspension system types, braking systems and with a choice of peripheral equipment.

This enables the Volvo FM to satisfy widely differing needs, from construction vehicles with all-wheel-drive (4x4/6x6) to low air suspension chassis that are optimised for bulk transport on good roads.

There are three different chassis heights for tractors:

  • Medium
  • High
  • X-high

 

And three heights for rigids:

  • Medium
  • High
  • X-high


The medium chassis suits trucks with low front axles in combination with either front leaf or front air suspension. High is intended for trucks used on construction sites or transports on bad roads and for trucks with leaf springs. X-high is used on all-wheel-drive vehicles with leaf springs.
