Tough cabs
The most common accident scenarios include a full frontal collision or a roll-over accident. In these, as well as in other accidents in which the cab is struck by an external object, the cabs primary task is to transfer energy to the rear through the cabin in order to maintain sufficient survival space inside.
At Volvo Trucks we test our cabs thoroughly in a series of sequences, including the front pendulum test. And all our cabs meet the Swedish cab strength standards - the toughest in the world.
Absorbing the energy of the impact
There are tremendous forces at work in the event of an accident. The force to which your body is subjected is likely to be at least twice the weight of your entire body. That is why the cab interior needs to be energy-absorbent, in order to yield to the impact of the human body.
