INTERESTED IN BECOMING A VOLVO DEALER?
History and Background
Volvo Trucks North America is one of many business units under the “Volvo” umbrella which includes Mack Trucks, Inc., Renault Trucks, Volvo Buses, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Volvo Aero, and Volvo Financial Services. Founded in 1927, Volvo is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy commercial vehicles and diesel engines. The Volvo Group also offers a comprehensive range of customized solutions in financing, leasing, insurance and service, as well as complete transport systems for urban traffic.
When Volvo produced its first truck back in the late 1920s, trucks were regarded as a complement to horse-drawn wagons, railway and sea transportation. Today, the truck has become the primary tool for transporting goods with increasing demands by business and industry for speed, safety and economic viability. Volvo is the world’s second largest producer of heavy trucks. We create reliable transport solutions all over the world – with safety and environmental care built into every truck.
Forerunner for the Environment
Volvo has a long tradition of care for environmental issues. Our first environmental policy was developed as early as 1972 in conjunction with the United Nations first environmental conference. Since the early 1990s, guardianship of the environment is one of our guiding principles and core values.
