Volvo plant in Kaluga operates in conformity with Russian and international standards and will strictly attain to the requirements of Volvo Group internal regulations, thus ensuring unrivalled levels of quality, safety, and environmental care.
Production program and model mix will directly depend on market developments and on our customers’ demands. The first models to be assembled will be Volvo FH and Volvo FM. Total plant capacity is 15,000 vehicles a year. This means that every day 60 trucks with components will arrive to the plant, and 66 new vehicles will be built.
These high rates will require the labor of nearly 1000 qualified employees and workers.
Another important fact is that up to 95% of materials used in a truck are recyclable. And even more - Volvo plant is ready to assemble Euro 4 and Euro 5 compliant vehicles. Volvo really cares about the environment.
The five assembly lines make more than 500 meters of total length. They are deployed in the main facility of 15,000 square meters and serve the integrated production cycle.

The 15,000 square meters warehouse is capable to accommodate more than 30,000 components and tools required for vehicle manufacturing.
A footbridge connects the main production facility and the warehouse to the office building that accommodates:
• Offices and meeting rooms;
• Locker rooms and showers for the workers;
• A 300 seat canteen;
• Reception area, show-room and gift shop.
The Volvo plant site provides for a vast vehicle storage area and ample parking lots.
Volvo Truck Center Kaluga, now under construction in the same site, will be launched in Spring 2009, providing the clients operating in the region with top quality maintenance services.
For many years Volvo has been cooperating with Russian bodybuilders, thus contributing to the growth of high quality national production. This is one of the reasons why Volvo pro-actively attracts bodybuilders and auto component suppliers to the Region. The company intends to reach a higher level of localization and to provide more jobs for the people of Kaluga. Volvo intends to work with both foreign and national auto component suppliers. Such an approach, along with making the vehicles more competitive, will contribute to the development of Russian automotive industry. And evidently no compromise will be accepted, as the quality of Volvo trucks must always correspond to our customers’ expectations.
The launch of Volvo plant in Kaluga brought us still closer to our customers since we have become a local truck producer.
Welcome to Volvo Trucks Russia!
