2009-11-24 Volvo Trucks delivers first EPA2010-certified trucks to Talon Logistics Inc. On November 17 Talon Logistics, Inc. USA, took delivery of its first EPA2010-certified trucks from Volvo Trucks in North America, with two more delivered since. Talon to date has ordered a total of 23 EPA’10 Volvo VN Daycabs for its fleet. 2009-11-17 Volvo tests new hybrid refuse truck in London Volvo Trucks is now launching an upgrade of the world’s first hybrid refuse truck. After a year and a half of initial field testing with excellent results, an upgraded truck is now being released with new components and software. The new refuse truck will be tested by Veolia Environmental Services in central London. 2009-11-03 Volvo FE gets automated transmission Now all Volvo Trucks models for regional and city distribution can be specified with automated transmission. The most recent addition is the Volvo FE which in distribution configuration is now available with Volvo I-Sync. The solution: parallel hybrid technology using up to 30 percent less fuel. 2009-10-14 Volvo Trucks in Umeå showcases its successful environmental commitment The Volvo Trucks cab factory in Umeå, will soon be an entirely CO2-neutral factory. This is being achieved by replacing propane with DME and by cutting energy consumption through the use of an ice-cold underground river to cool the production machinery. Within the framework of a broad-based joint project, field tests are being conducted with 14 trucks running on Bio-DME – a fuel that combines a low environmental imprint with high energy efficiency. 2009-09-18 Bio-DME trucks from Volvo in field test In 2010, Volvo Trucks will be the first truck manufacturer to start conducting comprehensive field tests involving Bio-DME. This is a biofuel that generates very low carbon dioxide emissions. In the long term it has the potential to replace 50 percent of today’s diesel use for transport operations in Europe.
