CHAMPAGNE, FLOWERS AND A VOLVO FH-460 FOR CARTER’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Norfolk-based Carter Haulage & Storage have celebrated 30 years in business with the acquisition of a new Volvo FH-460. The new truck was handed over personally by a representative from supplying Dealer Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia at Ely – together with a bottle of champagne for owner and founder Peter Carter and a bouquet of flowers for his wife, Louise.

Volvo Trucks in Umeå showcases its successful environmental commitment
The Volvo Trucks cab factory in Umeå, will soon be an entirely CO2-neutral factory. This is being achieved by replacing propane with DME and by cutting energy consumption through the use of an ice-cold underground river to cool the production machinery. At the same time, considerable environmental improvements in the paintshop have helped create the world’s cleanest and most energy-efficient paintshop.

BRITAIN’S FIRST VOLVO FH16-700 GOES TO WORK WITH McBURNEY
The first Volvo FH16-700 to go into service in the UK or the Republic of Ireland has joined McBurney Transport in Co. Antrim. The 6x2 tractor unit is to be the flagship of the McBurney fleet and will be used on the full range of the company’s delivery runs, working principally on the UK mainland.

VOLVO CUSTOMERS LOOK FOR SAVINGS AFTER EXTRA FUELWATCH SEMINARS
The current series of ‘Fuelwatch’ seminars run by Volvo Trucks around the UK has enjoyed considerable success, with around 100 customers attending the eight sessions held to date. The programme, which began in May, was originally intended to end in November, but has been extended until December because of customer demand, with a further ten sessions planned by the end of the year.
