By introducing a complementary website with information about the Volvo Ocean Race, Volvo Trucks will significantly help spread the excitement and drama of the sailing event to a wide target audience. 2008-10-09 EUROPEAN SAFETY AWARD FOR VOLVO TRUCKS TRAFFIC SAFETY EXPERT Lennart Svenson, who was Head of Volvo Truck Accident Research Team at Volvo Truck Corporation for many years, has been honoured with the European Safety Award for Commercial Vehicles. 2008-10-08 VOLVO TRUCKS SUPPORTS THE INDUSTRY WITH FUELWATCH Volvo Trucks latest Fuelwatch initiative could save hard-pressed operators as much as 10% on their fuel bills. Fuelwatch is an integral part of Volvo’s Fuel Management Service - a consultancy service which includes a detailed fuel management audit, followed by action planning and target setting. Moving the racer from circuit to circuit was the Volvo FH-480 6x2 tractor unit loaned to him by Volvo Trucks at Warwick. 2008-10-01 VOLVO TRUCKS REDUCES CAPACITY IN THE EUROPEAN PRODUCTION SYSTEM Volvo Trucks is taking measures to downsize capacity in its European production system to meet the declining demand for trucks in the European market. As a consequence, the company will initiate negotiations with the unions regarding staffing level cutbacks of approximately 1,400 employees at the company’s plants in Ghent in Belgium, and Gothenburg and Umeå in Sweden. Brains’ Fleet Manager Andrew Foley, the famous South Wales brewers’ good experience with Volvo’s MOT pass rates was an important factor when it was time to purchase the latest batch of fleet replacements. 2008-09-23 VOLVO TRUCKS LOOKS BEYOND EURO V WITH THE LAUNCH OF EEV ENGINES Volvo Trucks will start delivering its first FH and FM trucks with EEV (Enhanced Environmental friendly vehicle) engines during 2009. The new engines will help improve air quality by reducing particulates and smoke drastically, going beyond the requirements of Euro V. The first stage of Volvo’s EEV engine offer, based on an optimized D13 engine with SCR, will cover the majority of the D13’s current sales volume.
