Air Suspension
The Volvo Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) gives you high comfort and protects your cargo. The system automatically adjusts itself so that the truck remains at a constant height and compensates for unevenly distributed loads.
The manual height control makes cargo handling easier.  Swapping demountable load platforms is faster and you can easily adjust the truck’s platform height to match the height of the loading bay..

For the highest gross weights The three-axle Tridem bogie with air suspension featuring a steered tag axle is intended for construction trucks. Tridem is characterised by high stability and good get-you-there ability even in difficult conditions. A steered tag axle combined with a short wheelbase means the truck is also very easy to manoeuvre, with a tight turning circle.

Leaf springs
The Volvo FM can be specified with leaf springs of parabolic or conventional type. Conventional leaf springs are sometimes used on construction trucks, for good stability and when high axle weights can be expected. Parabolic leaf springs are mostly used in front axle suspensions and they can be combined with air, parabolic or conventional rear suspension.
