We have a lot of experience in product development. Our background in military aero engines is a strong foundation. We developed the RM8 engine for the Viggen fighter from a commercial JT8 engine in collaboration with Pratt & Whitney. For the Gripen, we have developed the RM12 engine from the F404 together with General Electric.
Today, Volvo Aero is responsible for the RM12 and has introduced several re-designs, such as a
new front frame, new flameholder and new FADEC system.
We also design and develop turbines and exhaust nozzles for space propulsion applications.
Within our engine components specialisation, there are several examples of succesful component developments at Volvo Aero.
