We manufacture combustor structures (diffuser cases and compressor rear frames) for several different engine programs. We are involved in re-design projects to produce new engine derivatives with higher component temperatures, or to reduce cost.

Our efficient manufacturing cells utilize a large number of CNC machines supported by specialised processes, such as high speed machining and robotic de-burring.

The diffuser cases and compressor rear frames are integrated cast structures in nickel-based material. Production of combustor structures involves a highly complicated casting process prior to the machining in our facility. The manufacturing process is a complex combination of turning and milling. Even so, all these machining processes take place here at Volvo Aero.
