Volvo´s home town, the City of Göteborg in Sweden, is the first city in the world to order the service for its employees.

5/27/2009Greener commuting at Volvo by use of CO2 “pedometer”A group of employees from the Volvo Group in Göteborg, Sweden, have been taking part in a project in which a personal CO2 “pedometer” has kept a check on what their commuting to work costs in the form of carbon emissions. Their journeys were registered using software in their mobile phones and a concept developed by Volvo IT. By changing their behaviour, the group succeeded in reducing their carbon footprint by more than 30%.
5/25/2009Invitation to press conference on green commutingVolvo IT hereby invites the mass media to a press conference on Wednesday, May 27, to present the results of the “Green Commuting” project. The objective of the project, which was implemented in cooperation with the City of Göteborg, was to measure time, efficiency and environmental impact relating to commuting. A group of employees within the Volvo Group in Gothenburg participated in the project. With the help of a device fitted to their mobile phones, they were successful in changing their modes of commuting to and from work and considerably reduced their CO2 emissions.

1/22/2009Volvo IT signs agreement with the Swedish Government Employee Pensions Board, SPVThe procurement process involving SPV’s IT operations has now been completed and Volvo IT will be responsible for running SPV’s mainframe computer system. Strålfors and Atea are also included in this procurement agreement, which is worth a total of SEK 70 million.
