Volvo IT can trace its roots back to the roaring 1920s. Dr. Assar Gabrielsson had used punched card machines for book keeping and accounting. He brought this experience with him  when he founded Volvo together with Gustaf Larson.

During several decades, the punched card machines helped increase productivity at Volvo. But a new era would begin when Volvo acquired its first computers.
