Volvo IT helped introduce hand-held computers with a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) at the Volvo Powertrain plant in Skövde, Sweden. The technology has proven to provide excellent opportunities for creating mobile applications with low costs for development and maintenance.
Improved logistics process
A simple, web-based application is used for ordering materials for the plant’s assembly lines, forming an important link in the logistics process. The result: reduced stock, shorter lead times and improved quality.
