History

At the end of the 1920s, punched card machines paved the way for what was to become modern, computerised information processing at Volvo. The first computers at Volvo went into operation in 1961. Developments have since continued at a rapid pace.

  • In 1967, the Volvo Group gathered its IT operations together in a separate company for the first time
  • In 1998, the current global Volvo Information Technology was created
  • In 2001, the IT staff at Renault Trucks and Mack Trucks were integrated with Volvo IT
