In the market, there are currently several different types of chip tuning kits (power modules) to electrically adjust diesel engines for marine usage.
Volvo Penta’s policy with respect to these types of tuning products is as follows:
Chip tuning is a manipulation of the engine’s function in terms of injection and combustion. Such manipulation exposes the engine and its components to a very serious risk of damage, while significantly increasing the risk of the engine not fulfilling legal emissions limits.
Volvo Penta will accept no warranty liability for drive systems that are damaged due to various forms of tuning, either electrical or mechanical. Liability for all use of tuning kits will rest solely with the end customer.
